A gas offer from Repco

Repco is helping the automotive trade get into the whole cleaner and greener environment mindset.
Repco is offering its trade customers a fleet of air-conditioning-reclaim cylinders for the collection of synthetic greenhouse air-conditioning gas, in line with Federal Government legislation.
So, now the legal obligation of collecting and destroying these gasses is a simple and cost effective process and helps take the complication out of compulsory compliance.
Once filled, the reclaim cylinders are sent back to Refrigerant Reclaim Australia (RRA) for destruction.
On top of simplifying each workshop's compliance, Repco will also credit each trade customer's account by $5 for every full kilogram of reclaimed gas collected.
Nice one.

Own-branding continues

Toyota's steady progress towards a home-branded world continues with the release of its own fuel-injector cleaner.
Called Toyota Genuine Jetstream Fuel Injector Cleaner, it makes the usual claims for products of this type, including improvements in fuel economy; a subject that's at the forefront of many people's consciousness right about now.
Designed to work with fuel-injection, carburetors and on intake valves, the product has been tested, says Toyota, and found to restore injector performance to 99 per cent efficiency after just one treatment.
Toyota parts and service centres are where it's at.

Stuck in the bush with a dead battery: It's pretty much every off-roader's nightmare.
But the solution might just be a new jump-starter from Projecta which actually packs enough punch to start a diesel engine. It also has a 33Ah deep-cycle battery suitable for powering fridges.
Called `Explorer' (HP1500) the 12-volt jump-starter has an output of 800 cranking amps and 1500 peak cranking amps that produces a running time of 33 hours for a 13watt fluorescent light.
The battery has been specially designed for deep-cycle applications and jump starting both petrol and diesel engines; it's fully sealed so there are no acid-spill worries and the top of the range version is equipped with longer leads.
There's a carry bag attached to the back of the unit and built-in surge protection means that you can safely jump start vehicles with EFI and computer management systems.
For the occasional flat tyre or that tedious job of inflating lilos, there's even a versatile air compressor.
The cigarette-lighter and 20-amp heavy-duty power sockets allow powering of camp lighting, radios, CD players, computers as well as compressor fridges and for additional safety, the socket is protected against overload by an automatic reset circuit breaker.
You also get flashing hazard lights and a powerful work light.
Recharging can be done from 240-volt mains power or via a 12-volt cigarette lighter socket.

The new book spans 280 pages and lists vehicles according to make, model, belt numbers and cross-references from other brands.

There was a time when mechanically operated towing brake controllers were pretty much all you could get your hands on.
But these days, it's different with a range of electronic brake controllers available which address the limitations of the old inertia-pendulum mechanical type.
The latest units on the market are the US-made range from Hoppy. And the company claims that its' controllers offer more reliability, accuracy and better fail-safes than conventional units.
The Hoppy controllers are designed to work with trailers using electric brakes and offer adjustable control to vary the amount of braking the trailer contributes to the overall rig.
They're compact, have simple controls, feature short-proofing and even act as a diagnostic tool for mis-wired trailers.
They can be mounted anywhere (even upside down) and can handle up to six-brake set-ups.

    High-tech changer for high-tech tyres

Tyre technology is one thing, but what about those new ultra-low profile and run flat tyres? A lot of older, conventional tyre changers can't handle them, but the latest from Boxer can.
Repco's GS Boxer automatic tyre changer range has now grown by one with the addition of the Automatic Tilt Back A24 LX.
    Features include:

  • An extra long vertical column and an adjustable bead breaker arm, enabling handling of tyres up to 15 inches wide - and the unique adjustable jaw system allows the handling of wheel rims ranging from 10 inches to 24 inches, with clamping from the inside or from the outside.
  • The specially designed mount and de-mounting tool retracts automatically from the rim flange to prevent wheel rim contact. Plastic protectors are included in the jaws and mount/de-mount tool to prevent damage to alloy wheel rims.
  • Super heavy duty mechanical construction, featuring a double lock on the horizontal arms, drop forged steel gearbox shaft support and a double framed cabinet can cope with the extreme loads generated when changing low-profile and run-flat tyres without the danger of damage to expensive alloy rims.
  • The vertical shaft movement and the operation arms are controlled by a quick lock button that allows fast and easy operation.
  • The double acting bead breaker cylinder prevents shocks to wheel rims and tyres.

Cleaning fuel-injection systems is a growing chunk of the industry and it's set to get even bigger as car owners recognise the benefits of a properly function efi system.
And that's where Chemplex's Purge and Quill products come in.
Both products are US-made and are being exported to 30 countries.
Chemplex Purge is an on-vehicle valve and injector cleaner aimed at both petrol and diesel engines and is only available to the trade.
Injected into the fuel rail by a specially designed machine, it cleans injectors, de-carbons combustion chambers and valves and restores all functions. It's available in a 250ml pack.
Chemplex's Quill, meanwhile, is added to the car's fuel tank and cleans the system while the car is being driven. Logically, then, it's the one that is aimed at consumers. It also works with both petrol and diesel engines and is sold in retail packs of 250ml.
Talk to Chemplex on 1800 057 793 for the full details on both products.

Box trailers: great things if you've got room to store one.
But with an increasing number of people moving to townhouse style accommodation, many just don't have the space for a conventional box trailer any more.
That's where Aunger's Pro Trailer comes in.
Made from galvanised steel, the unit comes flat-packed in two cartons for the consumer to assemble. It meets all relevant ADRs and is registerable. With a payload of 350kg, it'll handle most household jobs and it even features a tilting tray for easy unloading.
For the farmers out there, the Pro Trailer is also spot on for towing behind a quad-bike or even a ride-on mower.
At just 80kg and well balanced, the Pro Trailer addresses another major trailer drama; reversing. Instead of taking 15 attempts at backing it around a corner, you just unhitch it and push it single-handedly to where ever it needs to be.
