Smarter battery set-up

Okay, so dual battery set-ups, particularly for four-wheel-drives, are hardly news any more.

But according to Exide, combining two battery technologies can result in a better dual set-up.

A combination of Exide Extreme and Exide Select Orbital products allows four-wheel-drive (and boat) owners to make the most of the latest performance and back-up characteristics.

By matching one Extreme to one Orbital battery, Exide says you can wind up with a system that provides optimum starting and winching power, along with the ability to handle the slow-discharge needs of gear such as portable fridges.

The advice from Exide is to replace the vehicle's standard battery with the Extreme unit, fit a second Extreme as back-up under the bonnet and fit the Orbital battery to power fridges and interior fittings.

The Orbital unit is suitable for interior fitting because it's a totally sealed, leak-proof battery. And it's good for fridges and such because it has maximum structural integrity for long life and the best deep-cycling ability in the business.

It can also achieve a 100 per cent charge in less time than a standard battery.

Permatex Australia has released what it claims is the first fair dinkum chemical solution for removing silicone gasket residue.

Developed in conjunction with several automotive OEMs, Permatex Silicone Stripper Chemical Gasket Remover goes to work on the residue that often remains after disassembly of parts gasketed with a silicone or elastomeric rubber gasket residue.

Previously, in an attempt to remove residue by hand, you were stuck with grinding, chiselling or scraping using a variety of tools often resulting in a damaged or blemished surface.

That damaged surface could then potentially lead to a compromised seal when the parts were reassembled.

By using Silicone Stripper, residue is quickly (according to Permatex, in about a quarter of the time) and effectively removed resulting in smooth surfaces for 100 per cent re-sealing.

Quick shine, anyone?

CRC has landed a new product on to the car care market.

So Ezy Shine Quick Wax is designed to leave cars with a showroom shine that lasts.

It's simply sprayed on and wiped off, and the formulation cleans, shines and protects clearcoat, lacquer, acrylic and enamel finishes.

It also contains non-abrasive cleaners which are aimed at lifting insects, road grime, exhaust film and even rain spotting.

The product is applied after the vehicle is washed and a soft, clean cloth used to apply the wax. It's then left to dry and buffed off.

A bonus is the fact that Quick Wax can also be used between washes, since it's non-abrasive.

For more information, talk to CRC.

It's new and manufacturer Trico is calling it one of the biggest advances in the history of wiper blades.

And like most advances in the 21st Century, it relies on the application of cutting-edge technology.

Trico has teamed up with DuPont to arrive at the Trico Teflon blade. Trico claims the new blade works better and lasts longer while wiping more smoothly into the bargain. It also claims to eliminate smearing, squeaking and chattering on the glass.

The new line represents Trico's premium program and as well as the DuPont technology, the line-up also incorporates a new, more aerodynamic design for reduced lift at speed, stronger metal super-structure and top-line packaging in a clamshell pack.

The new blades should be available about the time you read this, so talk to Trico on (03) 9271 3288 for more details.
