Introduction to Intake Manifold

The main function of intake manifold is to supply a direct fuel/air mixture. The main job is to assign the fuel in right amount to each individual’s intake port on the engine’s cylinder heads.

When it is performed well, it improves performance and efficiency of fuel injection system.

The intake manifold also manufactured in plastic and aluminium it tends to give you better fuel efficiency, increased horsepower, cleaner emissions and more efficient consumption of fuel.

With the emerging rate of pollution, intake manifold helps to reduce it by offering better power and fuel efficiency. As fuel prices are on hike right now it saves the fuel also. Thus it also aid to control environmental issues.

Intake Manifold are made up of cast aluminium or plastic. But there are many who prefer cast steel also, although these people are all time low in numbers.

As the demands of intake manifold increases, the suppliers tend to offer it at competitive rates. Also the supply and availability also increases. The main reason to exit the steel as a manufacturing material is that the aluminium and high grade plastics are light in weight and cheap in cost.

As all of us have watched gasoline prices continually increase over the past several years, it has become only too obvious how much our car’s performance and reliability become more and more important. Intake manifold performance is one of many key components that contribute to this performance. If we maintain our car’s performance at peak standards, our costs to own and operate them go down significantly.

Fortunately, as methods improve in manufacture and production, and as demand and need for intakes continues to increase, the replacement costs to consumers are continually decreasing. This is a welcome event to automobile owners, because it was not that long ago, that the average price of an intake manifold would often run in the multiple hundreds of dollars.
