| Most cars built before 1986 were designed to run on leaded petrol and have engines with soft exhaust valve seats. Abnormal exhaust valve seat recession (VSR) can occur when these vehicles are operated on unleaded fuel. This is because lead, in addition to providing octane improvement, also acts as a solid lubricant between the exhaust valve and the soft exhaust valve seat, preventing the valve from recessing into the cylinder head.
As well as cars, a wide range of older 4-stroke motorbikes, tractors, lawn mowers, outboard motors, generators, etc, require the protection of a lead replacement product.
Valve Seat Recession can cause valve burning, loss of performance and can ultimately result in loss of compression, engine failure and increased exhaust emissions that harm the environment.
In addition to VSR protection, Valvemaster keeps carburetors and port fuel injector systems clean. It is also effective at protecting fuel tanks and systems from corrosion, particularly in older vehicles.
Since its introduction in the United States in the early 1980s, Valvemaster has been used to treat billions of litres of fuel and protect millions of engines worldwide. Using superior phosphorus chemistry, which has been proven internationally as the best non-lead additive, Valvemaster is the VSR prevention of choice in USA, UK, Australasia and South East Asia.
